The legal basis for processing your personal information and your rights

We process your information primarily to fulfill our obligations under the Terms of Service but, in certain cases, we rely on an alternative legal basis. We have detailed below the legal bases on which we process your personal data.

However, please note that we adapt our legal basis for processing if the laws of the jurisdiction in which you reside require us to do so. In particular, in areas where we must rely on a legal authority other than detailed in this section, your acceptance of the Privacy Policy constitutes your consent to the data processing activities described herein.

1. Contractual necessity

Contractual necessity applies when you accept (if you are of the age required to enter into a contract) our Terms of Service and justify the following uses of personal data:

a) Provide the Services and personalize your experience with the Services by customizing certain features based on your interests.

b) Allow you to participate in any game, contest, sweepstakes or other fan engagement opportunity offered by us through the Services.

c) Management of registration and user account.

j) Evaluate the performance of the Services as well as the websites and services of third parties.

k) share data with other organizations that may offer and/or offer their services to you, and with the Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committees (OCOGs) who may use such data to enhance their understanding of their fans, evaluate service performance and, to the extent permitted by law, customize their services, products and communications; and send you direct marketing, including marketing relating to its products, services and partners

You can exercise your rights to access, rectify, delete, portability, limit and object to processing of your personal data, as well as your right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing of your personal data, where applicable, with us. If you live outside the European Union, you may also have rights under the laws of such jurisdiction. To withdraw your consent or to view or correct your personal data, please log into your Olympic Profile account and use Settings to make modifications to that account.

b) Opt out of IOC marketing communications

To opt out of IOC marketing communications, you can adjust your settings in your user account or click on the link displayed at the bottom of our marketing communications.

c) Requests related to the issuance of tickets

If you have a ticketing request, including how to update the login credentials required to access your ticket(s), please contact the relevant OCOG.

d) Contact us

To exercise your right to protect your data or the right of your child, or for any inquiries related to the privacy policy, you can contact us through the dedicated Emirates Electronic Sports Federation portal or contact the data protection officer.

f) Submission of complaints

In cases where the European General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) applies, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the EU supervisory authority in your territory of residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement. Where the UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Where other laws apply, you may contact us in accordance with paragraph (d) above to file a complaint.

The UAE Electronic Sports Federation has appointed Olympic Broadcasting Services S.L. It is located at 75 Torrelaguna Street, Madrid, Spain as the representative of the European Union in accordance with Article 27 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
